What protection options are available and what do they cover?

1. Standard Rental Protection: CDW and TP

When you book a car, your rate typically includes basic protection. It is important to note that these are not traditional insurance policies, but rather waivers that cap your financial liability in the event of an incident.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

CDW limits your financial responsibility for damage to the car's bodywork.

  • How it works: If the vehicle is damaged during your rental, you will not have to pay the full cost of repairs. Instead, your maximum financial exposure is capped at a fixed amount known as the Excess.
  • What is NOT covered: Standard CDW is designed for the vehicle's bodywork. It typically excludes damage to the tires, wheels, glass (windshield), undercarriage and the car's interior.

Theft Protection (TP)

TP limits your liability if the rental car is stolen or damaged during an attempted theft.

  • How it works: If the vehicle is stolen, you are only liable to pay the designated Excess amount (which generally matches the CDW excess).
  • Crucial Requirement: For Theft Protection to remain valid, the renter must be able to return the vehicle keys to the rental desk and provide an official police report.

2. Vehicle Groups, Standard Excess, and SuperCover Upgrade Costs

Your standard excess and the cost to upgrade to full protection depend entirely on the category of the vehicle you choose. Below is the detailed breakdown of the non-waivable excess amounts and SuperCover daily fees across our fleet:

3. SuperCover: Total Peace of Mind (Zero Excess)

If you prefer to drive with complete financial reassurance, you can opt to purchase SuperCover at the time of rental.

  • The Ultimate Benefit: SuperCover reduces your non-waivable excess from the standard amounts (up to €2000) all the way down to €0.
  • Broader Protection: In addition to eliminating the standard excess, choosing SuperCover often covers components that basic CDW excludes, ensuring you face no surprise repair bills.

Important Things to Know Before You Drive

⚠️ Security Deposit on Your Credit Card Upon vehicle pickup, a security deposit will be pre-authorized ("blocked") on your credit card. If you stick with the Standard Excess, this block usually covers the full Excess amount plus a full tank of fuel (ranging from €700 to €2000). Opting for SuperCover significantly lowers this security deposit amount, freeing up funds on your card.

🌐 Cross-Border Travel in the Baltics Planning to drive between Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia? Please inform the counter agent before departure. While your CDW, TP and SuperCover protections remain fully valid across all three Baltic states, a standard cross-border fee (approximately €10 daily) will apply to your rental agreement.

By understanding your coverage options, you can choose the level of protection that best fits your travel style—whether you are comfortable managing a standard excess or prefer the zero-liability freedom of SuperCover. Safe travels!
